Mackay State High School has five different academies which are offered to students.
Applications are now open for admission to the Mackay State High School Excellence Academies in 2024.
To apply for any of the three sporting academies (Football, Netball or Rugby League) there will be a trials event on the Mackay State High School sporting fields on Tuesday 6 June 2023. Registration is required to attend and can be done by completing the online form below.

Applications for the Academic Academy should be submitted by Monday 5 June 2023, and entrance testing will occur on Thursday 8 June 2023 at Mackay State High School Auditorium from 3.30pm.
Creative Arts Academy applications should be submitted by Friday 13 October 2023.
