Prospectus

Before you apply for enrolment at Mackay State High School, please read the following important information.

School Enrolment Management Plan

Mackay State High School recognises as its prime obligation, the provision of access to an appropriate educational service for students whose principal place of residence is within the school's catchment area. Because of enrolment capacity and growth, Mackay State High School may be unable to meet this obligation in the future, unless action is taken now to manage enrolments.

Schools are required to implement a School Enrolment Management Plan (EMP) when enrolments reach 80% of the school's student enrolment capacity. A school's student enrolment capacity is the number of students the school can accommodate within the existing learning spaces in the school. As Mackay State High School has reached this limit we are subject to an EMP and the Principal must restrict enrolment of out-of-catchment students to ensure in-catchment students can enrol at their local state school, without requiring additional facilities.

Out-of-catchment students are welcome to apply for enrolment at the school and will be placed on a waiting list, assessed in order of receipt, and prioritised as per the School enrolment management plan (PDF, 112KB).

You can view the Mackay State High School Enrolment Management Plan on the Department's website or download a copy. School enrolment management plan (PDF, 112KB).

More information on School EMPs can be found here:   https://education.qld.gov.au/parents-and-carers/enrolment/management-plans

The Principal is responsible for all decisions on enrolments and may request any additional documentation and conduct other enquiries deemed necessary to satisfy eligibility criteria. The principals decision on enrolment is final.
