Chataway House is named after Flying Officer Cosmo Clive CHATAWAY, former student and teacher at our school, who was killed in action during World War II.

Denniss
Denniss House is named after Mr H Denniss, the first Principal at Mackay State High School when it opened in 1912.
Denniss house colour is dark green and their mascot is Althena Dragon.
Forgan
Forgan house is named after William Forgan Smith, former state member for Mackay and Premier of Queensland from 1932 to 1942.
Forgan house colour is Red and their mascot is Frankie Panther.
Mackay
Mackay house is named after John Mackay, who founded the original settlement here and is who our city is named after.
Mackay house colour is Navy Blue and their mascot is Buster Bulldog.
