Mackay State High School would like to congratulate our Year 11 student, Oren, on being selected for the prestigious QUT Future You Summit Program.
Chosen from a highly competitive pool of around 500 applicants, Oren was recognised for demonstrating outstanding curiosity, motivation, and commitment to future aspirations.
The summit will be held from Tuesday 30 June 2026 to Friday 3 July 2026 and will bring together 325 Year 11 and 12 students from across Queensland and northern New South Wales. Throughout the four-day program, students will participate in hands-on learning experiences, interactive workshops, and sessions led by QUT academics and industry professionals.
The program is designed to give students valuable insight into university life, future career pathways, and the skills needed for success beyond school.
But Oren's not done yet....
Oren continues to achieve outstanding success both academically and athletically.
From May 18, 2026 to May 23, 2026 he will be representing at the Oceania Athletics Championships in Darwin, Oren so far has achieved:
- Second Place – 4 x 100m Relay Team
- Fourth Place – U18 Men’s Long Jump
In addition to his sporting accomplishments, Oren was also recognised with the Principal’s Award for achieving A grades across all subject areas, including:

When asked about the key to his success, Oren shared the following advice:

Remove distractions
