Today marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Mackay State High School as we officially launched our partnership with the Gold Coast Titans, creating new opportunities for our aspiring Rugby League students both on and off the field.

We were honoured to welcome Gold Coast Titans Head Coach Josh Hannay and Titans Pathways Manager Matthew Keating to our school. During their visit, they met with our Rugby League coaching staff, discussed future program opportunities and engaged in an inspiring question and answer session with our student athletes.

During the speech to students, Josh and Matthew shared valuable insights into balancing the demands of school, sport and personal growth. They emphasised the importance of consistency, hard work, teamwork and making the most of support networks around us.

Josh encouraged students to take pride in their school, their achievements and the jersey they wear.

"Be proud of your school motto and the jersey you wear. You have so much good here and I can see that through the smiles on your faces."

He also highlighted the importance of recognising those who contribute to their success; encouraging students to thank their teachers, coaches, parents, friends and school leaders for the support they provide every day.

Drawing on his experience as a coach, Josh also spoke about the value of communication and feedback within a team environment, reminding students that everyone has a role to play in achieving excellence both academically and athletically.

A massive thank you to Josh Hannay, Matthew Keating and the Gold Coast Titans for their time, guidance and commitment to helping develop the next generation of athletes and leaders.

The future is looking bright at Mackay State High School
