Student Services and Support Programs

​Mackay State High School is committed to providing a safe, inclusive and supportive environment where every student is encouraged to succeed academically, socially and emotionally. Our extensive Student Support Services team works collaboratively with students, families, staff and external agencies to ensure students are supported throughout their educational journey.

Our dedicated Student Support Team includes two Youth Workers, two Social Workers, two Guidance Officers, a School Bases Youth Health Nurse, Community Education Counsellor and Chaplaincy services, all focused on promoting student wellbeing, engagement, resilience and positive outcomes.

In addition to wellbeing support, we also offer a wide range pf pathways and​​​​ programs designed to support students in achieving their future goals.

The Clontarf Academy​​​​ at Mackay SHS supports young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men through mentoring, leadership development, education, wellbeing and employment pathways, helping students to build con​​​​fide​nce and strong connections to school and community.

Our Vocational Education and Training (VET) pathways provide students with practical, hands-on learning opportunities linked to real-world industries and future careers. Students can access nationally recognised qualifications, school-based apprenticeships and traineeships and industry partnerships that prepare them for employment, further training or tertiary study after graduation.
